WHY HAVE A VIDEO OF THE DAY?

Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life and it is essential you choose the right people to make the day go as you want it to.  No doubt you have carefully chosen the wedding dress, the colour theme, the venue and the caterers, the make-up artiste, the hairdresser, the photographer, the D.J., the band, and all the other people who are important to this most special of days.  So make sure you are just as careful about choosing your videographer.

It is surprising, but  a fact, that the videographer is one of the last considerations when planning a wedding.  It is surprising because the photographer is one of the first considerations.  Why is this?  Probably because historically the wedding photographer is accepted as part of the day, the photographs he, or she, takes a natural outcome;  where as the video film is comparatively new.  Seen by many, who have not seen a professionally made wedding day film, as a bit “naff.’  How wrong this view is!  As professional videographers we (naturally) argue that a well made video of the day will not just compliment the photographs but will tell the story of the day in a far better way.  That having the photographs and the video is the only way to record the day as it really was.

PHOTOGRAPHS – A SPLIT SECOND OF TIME

The photographs taken at your wedding will be essential, but they only record split seconds of the day, and are mostly posed.  Where as the video film records the day as it actually was.  Through it you can feel the atmosphere, see the excitement, the tears, the joy; hear the laughter, hear and see the vows and the speeches.  A video film will allow you to see the bride walking down the aisle, the cutting of the cake, the first dance.  This is the only medium that can let you see, and hear,  this unique day, and all the special events that take place,  over and over again.

The wedding day film, shot and edited by professionals, offers far more scope for creativity than the  still photographer.  This is a fact not often thought about by couples planning their wedding.  But think about it: hasn’t the still image been more or less replaced by the moving image?  By television? By film?  And why is this? Simply because the moving image is far more capable off telling a story in an entertaining way than the still image.  We are not saying you should not have a photographer, because you should, we are saying the wedding day film is also an essential part of your wedding day.

CHOOSING YOUR VIDEOGRAPHER

Let's face it - weddings are expensive and today we are all feeling the pinch.  We are all checking prices and wanting value for our money.  We offer two pieces of advice:

(1) Don't accept the offer of a friend or relative to film your wedding with his or her domestic camcorder.  We can almost guarantee the result will be disjointed, amateurish, and very disappointing.

(2) No matter how tempting it may be don't choose the cheapest.  The company that is offering to film your whole wedding day for £300 to £400 has probably just started up and is doing it part-time at weekends, or is using inexperienced camera operators and editors and are paying them peanuts.  Keep in mind that tired (but true) old cliche' "You get what you pay for."

We know that searching the web for a videographer can be a bewildering experience.  There is quite a few to choose from.  Each offering different packages and prices varying from the out-of-the-question-they-must-be-joking price to the opposite end where the low price should make you suspicious.  We believe GHC Productions fall roughly in the middle.  We believe our prices are reasonable and our productions can stand comparison with anyone.  Our team are enthuseastic professionals who constantly work to improve The Wedding Day Film.  Should you have any questions we would be only too pleased to answer them.

Should you book us you will find on the day our camera operators strive to remain unobtrusive throughout – remaining in the background but capturing the day with professionalism and flare.  Courteous and dressed for the occasion they are always approachable and friendly.

We offer two styles of wedding day films:

The traditional documentary film.  This is edited in a chronological way so as to show the day from beginning (the setting of the scene at the venue, the guests arriving) to the end (the cutting of the cake, the first dance etc.)

The 'Fast Cut' film   This is an ideal DVD for todays busy time-consumed couples.  The first chapter is 20 to 30 story of the day cut in a modern fast style with events and images set to the music of your choice.  There are also chapters showing all of the ceremony and all of the speeches in addition to a chapter containing messages from friends and relatives (providing filming has been extended following the speeches.)

Meeting

Should you decide to book us we would want to arrange a meeting.  We would want to discuss your choice of music for the film, the style of film you have chosen, any special sequences you may want including, the days timings,  and give you the opportunity to raise any queries you may have about the filming or the editing.

 Rehearsal

If you have a wedding rehearsal we will be pleased to attend.  This will allow us to meet the person conducting the ceremony  and discuss with him, or her, the placing of the camera(s), meet the main participants - the Best Man, Bridesmaids and parents.  We do not charge for this part of our service.

One or Two Cameras?

Before you click on our "prices" page a few words about the choice of one or two cameras:  One camera operator can film your day and most of the events that take place, and it is obviously the lower priced option - and  we reccommend a one camera package for the smaller wedding.  Two cameras on the other hand produce a wider choice of pictures, angles, and viewpoints for our editors to choose from in post-production. This should be the choice for the larger wedding when the day is planned to be a full event packed day and one camera operator would not be able to give adequate coverage.
